Roadmap

gitvow is deliberately small. These are the things it should grow into, in order, with the exit test for each.

0.2 — Trial-hardened

  • One git ref per session note (refs/sessions/<ulid>) so parallel agents never contend; git notes kept as a compatibility view.
  • Custom redaction rules from ~/.gitvow/redact-rules.json.
  • Line-level attribution (agent-written vs human-edited lines) in the note.
  • Exit: a five-person, two-week trial produces zero secrets in collected archives on manual review.

0.3 — Reviewer surface

  • A GitHub check that publishes each PR's session notes as a comment or check summary, and fails when agent commits lack trailers.
  • "Said versus did": the stated plan against the files changed.
  • Exit: two teams review with it on; time-to-first-comment measured.

0.4 — Policy from facts

  • A hook that asks an external provider whether a file is gate-bearing or a route has callers, so the policy can be derived rather than written. gitvow defines the interface; providers live elsewhere.
  • Exit: a synthetic PR that adds an unauthorised route is refused with the evidence attached.

Later

  • Adapters for other agents that expose before/after tool hooks.
  • A configuration-driven storage tier for the ledger (restricted repository, object store).

Not planned

Hosting, mirroring, cloud summaries of transcripts, a web UI. gitvow is the layer those things consume.
